Preaching Through The NT More Effectively Using A Biblical Timeline

Regrettably, a numerous Pastors and Bible teachers in our churches go on and preach superficial, light weight, flimsy, shallow messages and their congregation scarcely grow in Bible knowledge. Preachers love to preach'moral essays' and'warming affirmations' because supposedly, if we truly love our people this is what we will do. Too bad it seems, if God's men and women are falling through the cracks'for a lack of knowledge' so long as we are positive and loving to all. Truly, the more like the world, the less relevant we are to the world.
Years ago, I was teaching on the resurrection, burial, death and life of Jesus, and a retired pastor and strong preacher of Scripture, who had been in the ministry for forty years, marched up and reproved me vigorously over some fascinating points I made and he said 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I humbly asked him if I had been preaching anything of a heretical nature in any way, to which he said"No". I continued on to describe that in the case of that particular verse, it wasn't speaking to examining the Bible but to the false teachings and philosophy of the Gnostics, but he would not accept it. So, how can a forty year minister & laborer in the Gospel, not know and understand about something that possibly 1/2 the books of the New Testament refer to?
How can he understand and preach the Bible fully without being aware of something that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to comprehend these things and be in a position to interpret their Bible well, if they're not told?
Let's us as teachers and preachers stitch together the aspects of God's Word and God's plan into a logical whole that our people are able to draw on for the remainder of their lives, to help them to comprehend God, His Eternal Plan, the role of the Church and ways to better translate the Bible to live by.
It's not hard to do, and it is not boring if we are ready to put in a bit of effort prayer and fervor, and just possibly you can utilize a Bible Timeline as well.
