Teaching Through The OT Effectively Using A Bible Bible Timeline Poster

Alas, a large number of preachers and teachers in our churches go on and preach superficial, light weight, flimsy, shallow sermons and their members barely grow in Bible knowledge. Preachers love to give us'moral essays' and'warming affirmations' because supposedly, if we really love people this is what we'll do. Too bad it seems, if God's men and women are falling through the cracks'for a lack of knowledge' as long as we're positive and loving to all. In reality, the more relevant we become to our world, the less relevant we're to our world.
Some years ago, I was speaking on the life, resurrection, death and burial of Christ Jesus, and a retired minister and powerful preacher of the Bible, who had been in the ministry for forty years, came up and reproved me smartly over some fascinating points I made and he remarked 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I quietly asked him if I was preaching anything of a heretical nature in any way, to which he answered"No". I continued on to spell out that in the case of that particular verse, it wasn't speaking to exploring Scripture but to the false teaching and school of thought of the Gnostics, but he would not accept it. Let me ask, how can a forty year preacher & worker in the Gospel, not know and understand about a thing that probably 1/2 the books of the New Testament discuss?
How could he understand and teach the Bible in fullness without knowing about a thing that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to comprehend these things and be able to interpret their Bible properly, if they are not told?
Let's us as instructors and preachers stitch together the aspects of God's Word and God's plan into a seamless tapestry that our people can draw on for the rest of their lives, to help them to comprehend God, His Eternal Plan, the function of the Church and how to better translate the Bible to order our lives by.
It is not difficult to do, and it's not boring if we're prepared to put in a bit of study with prayer and fervor, and just possibly you can utilize a Bible Timeline also.
