Teaching Through The NT Effectively With A Bible Timeline Chart

Regrettably, a numerous Pastors and Bible teachers in our churches continue to preach shallow, flimsy, superficial, light weight sermons and their Church members scarcely grow in Bible knowledge. Preachers love to preach'moral essays' and'warming affirmations' because supposedly, if we love our people this is what we'll do. Too bad it seems, if God's men and women are falling through the cracks'for a lack of knowledge' as long as we're positive and loving to all. In reality, the more relevant we become to this world, the less relevant we're to this world.
Years ago, I was preaching on the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, and a retired pastor and powerful preacher of the Bible, who had been a minister for forty years, marched up and reproved me smartly over some interesting points I made and he mentioned 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I quietly asked him if I was teaching anything of a heretical nature in any way, to which he answered"No". I continued to spell out that in the case of that particular verse, it was not referring to examining Scripture but to the false teaching and school of thought of Gnosticism, but he would not accept it. So, how can a forty year minister & worker in the Gospel, not know and understand about something that probably half the books of the New Testament relate to?
How can he understand and preach the Bible clearly without knowing about something that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to comprehend these things and be in a position to interpret their Bible effectively, if they are not informed?
Let's us as instructors and preachers sew together the aspects of God's Word and His plan into a logical whole that our people are able to draw on for the rest of life, to help them to comprehend God, His Eternal Plan, the function of the Church and how to better interpret the Bible to live by.
It is not difficult to do, and it's not boring if we're ready to put in a bit of study with prayer and fervor, and just possibly you can make use of a Bible Timeline as well.
