Preaching Through The OT Powerfully Using A Biblical History Timeline

In a Bible group years ago, a lady who had been a Christian and worked in the local Church for many years, said,"Yes, but Abraham had the Law and so he understood about......" (they were not talking about the pre-Moses law) I wonder how many Christians will really pick up the error in this assertion. Moses came about 500 years after Abraham and so it is an impossibility. I have since made up a Bible timeline banner and explained more visually the dating of people and events.

Why is it that we get stuck in a rut of our pet themes and sugar coated preaching?
We teach on a verse from Revelation and a story about Hezekiah and a topic from the book of Nahum and then the obedience of Abraham or the miracles of Jesus - pieces from here and there, but we do not put it all together in an apparent understandable, simple to remember, perspective with a capable Bible TimeLine including Church History as well. Constantly we are bombarded with new books, modernist ideas, a few of them perilously edging toward Progressive theology, when if we were to be instructed the fundamental principles of Church history, we then would not be so doomed to repeat it.
Let's us as tutors and preachers sew together the fragments of God's Word and His plan into a seamless tapestry that our people are able to draw on for the remainder of their lives, to help them to understand God, His Eternal Plan, the role of the Church and how to better translate the Bible to model our lives by.
It is not difficult to do, and it's not boring if we are ready to put in a bit of effort prayer and fervor, and just maybe you can use a Bible Timeline too.
